As you can see, the colour scheme for our mini album project at the Yzerfontein Retreat in June is white, blue and brown. I am not going to say anything else about it at this stage, except that it is beautiful, and you should really be there!

Itz van Allez scrapbooking event
Pics 'n Tales will be presenting quite a number of classes at the "Love 2 Create" event hosted by Itz van Allez this year! Be sure to book your seats, as the event is next weekend...
We will be creating a few very quick and simple mini albums, which are so versatile, you will use this idea again and again. Here are a few pics of the examples:
Hope to see you there!

Just because
This must be one of my favourite pictures of my son. It was taken at Langebaan sometime in 2012. I wanted to create a layout that was (then) something a little different for me.
I literally searched through my stash and pulled out everything and anything that could possibly work on this layout...
... and then used almost all of it!
Anyway, I quite like how it turned out. Thanks for looking!

Envelope Mini Album
Ezme recently made this gorgeous mini album using Webster's Pages patterned paper and a combination of Prima Alphabet stickers and stamps.
Each of the envelopes were made from scratch and then decorated.
There is space for a photo and journaling cards in each of the envelopes. This specific album contains 7 envelopes - one for each day of the week. Perfect to document the events of any random (or special!) week in your life.
The album can just as easily be adapted to contain an envelope for each month of the year, so you can use it to showcase the highlight of every month for a whole year!

Beautiful Prima paper!
A recent misunderstanding between my left foot and a staircase meant that I've had to spend a bit of time in hospital, so there has been quite a while of "nothing new" here... I'm back at home now, so here is a mini album that I made for a dear friend's 40th birthday earlier this year.
She is such a gorgeous woman, and has the two most beautiful girls, that I could only really have considered Prima paper for this project!
All the pictures are black and white, which creates a beautiful contrast to the soft colours of the paper and the feminine embellishments.
I've used punched butterflies, which I covered with Glossy Accents, ribbon, beads and rub-ons throughout the album.

PnT Scrap Challenge
We recently held a sketch scrap challenge at one of our crop sessions. Quite a few of the ladies participated, and posted some of the results on the Pics 'n Tales Facebook page. This is the sketch that we used:
And this is my take on the challenge:
I used little bits of paper left over from many different projects, mixing and matching paper from different manufacturers. The photos were taken at Fairview farm back in 2010. I love how the red and green (typical Christmas colours...), pics up the colours in the photos. The chevrons and buttons add a bit of fun - something every layout should have!

January class - unexpected treasures
When I found a stash of vintage books in a bookstore in Cape Town recently, I just had to have them... Ever found yourself in that situation? Regularly, I hear some say...
Anyway, what to do with a whole stack of small books, published in 1887? Create a class project, of course!!
At first, some of the girls were quite taken aback by the instruction to tear most of the pages out of the book, and then to procede with scrapping directly onto the book pages. But they soon got over that and started getting quite creative!
The idea was to scrap photos that were rather random - not taken specifically for a project. The result: a fun mini album with a vintage twist. Here are a few of the pages from my book:

There are about 20 more little double pages...
